Around the World 5K Supporting Marine Embassy Guards

This year, the Around the World 5K is proud to launch a new initiative to support the well-being of Marine Security Guards serving at U.S. embassies and consulates around the world.

In partnership with the nonprofit organization Kindness Activist (https://www.kindnessactivist.org), we are creating a small grant program designed specifically for posts interested in better supporting Marines stationed overseas.

Through this program, officers, family members, or Marine Security Detachments will be able to request small grants to fund projects that strengthen morale and well-being, specifically focused on their Marine Security Guard communities. These requests might include things like:

Organizing a group outing
Hosting morale-building events or classes
Supporting wellness activities for the detachment
Developing programs that include Marines in building or strengthening esprit de corps in the community

The Around the World 5K Board and administrators will review applications and select the grant recipients. Administrators will provide additional information about the application process and selection criteria in the coming weeks.

Our goal for this first year is to raise at least $3,000 to support these efforts—an especially meaningful initiative as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.
